Brooke’s Dairy was started in 1991 by Robert and Irene Brooke when they began producing artisan ice creams and sorbets from the milk they produced on their farm. The farm is in the heart of the Wye Valley where plentiful sun and rain create perfect conditions for the top quality grass enjoyed by the Brookes’ small herd of beautiful Jersey cows. Milk from Jersey cows is famed for its golden colour and rich, creamy taste. The milk is perfect for luxurious ice cream and is now also being used for a new cheese called Angiddy, which is being handmade on the farm by Robert and Irene’s daughter Hannah. Angiddy is a mould ripened soft cheese, similar in style to a Brie or Camembert. The milk they use from their cows not only gives a lovely golden colour and fresh flavour but also an addictive tang which is memorable and moreish. The Brookes were delighted to win a Silver award at the Royal Welsh Show 2017 in the ‘New Cheese’ category.
