About Snowdonia Cheese Company

The Snowdonia Cheese Company is a family run business, established in Rhyl in 2001 by a group of dairy farmers from North Wales who had the aim of creating a luxury selection of cheeses. Inspired by the lush landscape of Snowdonia, they began by using fresh ingredients to craft natural, premium Cheddar and Red Leicester cheeses that married an extraordinary depth of flavour with a remarkable creaminess. They found immediate success at farmers’ markets which has led to them being stocked by delis and grocers across the UK.

About the cheese

Their luxury cheeses are renowned for their distinctive coloured wax coating which extends their shelf life and looks pretty cool, adding to their unique appeal. They’ve won a number of prestigious awards over the years. In 2019, Black Bomber was voted the number one Best Brand in the UK for the fourth time in five years in the Guild of Fine Foods survey. This followed a gold award for Black Bomber and a silver for Red Storm at the 2018 International Cheese Awards.

Their flagship extra mature cheddar, Black Bomber is a best seller of ours, alongside the fiery Red Devil and award winning vintage aged Red Leicester Red Storm. Most recently they’ve added to their roster with the addition of Rock Star, a distinctively rich Cheddar which they mature to perfection within Welsh slate caverns in the heart of Snowdonia.
