All you need to know about our sustainable packaging

Whether you get our cheese delivered to you every month with a Clwb Caws subscription or are about to place your first order, we thought you might like to know a little more about The Welsh Cheese Company’s packaging.

We’re pretty proud of our sustainable packaging. It’s environmentally-friendly, temperature-controlled using natural and recyclable materials – and rather beautiful (even if we say so ourselves). Read on for more details!

Compostable and biodegradable insulation

When you place an order with The Welsh Cheese Company we package up your chosen cheeses into a beautifully branded cardboard box – which is made in Wales, just like our cheese. The box is sturdy and keeps your cheese secure all by itself, so we don’t need to use sticky tape or adhesives.

Please note: while our sustainable packaging is 100% recyclable, some of our Welsh cheeses may feature non-recyclable packaging.

Temperature-controlled

Innovative Woolcool insulation
Keeps cheese cool for up to 24 hours

Made from 100% felted sheep’s wool and a recyclable food-grade polythene wrap, Woolcool insulation keeps your cheese perfectly chilled. How? By capturing moisture from the air, and keeping humidity and condensation low. It also keeps your delicious purchases protected from any knocks and bumps on their journey.

Wool is a smart fibre, which means it can cope with extreme temperatures – and is completely compostable and biodegradable. But before you recycle your Woolcool, why not reuse it? Simply pop it in the freezer ready for your next picnic or road trip.

Not only does your cheese arrive in an eye-catching Welsh Cheese Company box emblazoned with our lovely logo, but you’ll also be able to see which lovely member of our team packed your cheese.
