My day at the International Cheese Awards

As a fully fledged cheese devotee I’m not sure many days will top Tuesday 24th July 2018 when I was part of the judging panel at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich.

The International Cheese Awards are part of the annual Nantwich Show which takes place in Cheshire each year. In 2018 over 5,600 cheeses from 30 different countries were entered into the awards – a new world record!

I was lucky enough to be part of the Mature Cheddar Cheese judging panel which entailed sampling over 40 different gorgeous varieties. It was a fascinating experience which gave my taste buds the best workout they’d ever had!

It was fantastic to see some of our own Welsh varieties highlighted across the range of categories; and a further reminder of how lucky we are in Wales to have some of the world’s best cheeses made right on our doorstep.
